    Product Review
Despite the widespread interest in endocrine disruption in the lay public, scientific community, and the regulatory arena, there are relatively few books that adequately cover the scientific breadth of this field to the extent done in this book. In general, this text is a valuable and current resource that puts together virtually all the disparate mechanisms and examples of potential endocrine disruption in a single book.
-Dr. C.J. Bowman, Veterinary Pathology, Vol. 43, No. 3, 2006

fills the gap between public concern and knowledge and the technical data published in the scientific literaturean important book for scientists, students, and members of the lay audience who are interested in understanding the role of endocrine disruptors in the constantly observed modification of fertility and the increase of environmentally related reproductive diseases It is definitely a great source of reference information and a highly valuable addition to update our knowledge of these agents and their sometimes-controversial effects on reproductive function in human and other animal populations.
-Karine M. Onclin, DVM, Ph.D., Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA), Vol. 228, No. 12, June 15, 2006

The editor argues that the second edition is a model source of recent, updated, vital and viable scientific information on endocrine disruption. Based upon the distinguished panel of authors, I tend to agree. Chapter references are current and significant. I was please I was able to retrieve chemical names or pathological terms using the index.
    - Doody's Review Service

This volume, in its updated second edition, reviews in 13 chapters health and reproductive hazards to both genders. One on dietary phytoestrogens is of special interest to pediatricians.
-Pediatric Endocrinology Reviews, Vol. 3, No. 2, Dec. 2005

this is a highly original text covering a highly important and current area of toxicology, and has a breadth of scope that covers whole body responses to insult. It is a text of high educational and reference value to toxicologists at all levels and across numerous disciplines. As a first in the field it is definitive, not by default but by excellent organization and coverage of a complex and rapidly emerging field.
-Journal of Applied Toxicology, Vol. 25, No. 6, Nov/Dec 2005

    Product Description
There is great concern regarding the reproductive and health hazards of endocrine disruptors. Research indicates that men are experiencing declining fertility and an increased incidence of prostate cancer, while women are dealing with increased infertility, early menopause, and breast cancer. As new research reveals the previously unknown risks of these endocrine disruptors, it is imperative to update our knowledge of these controversial chemicals. Endocrine Disruptors: Effects on Male and Female Reproductive Systems, Second Edition examines the reproductive and health hazards of endocrine-disrupting environmental chemicals from epidemiology to etiology, concluding with future directions. Divided into two sections, the first part of the book describes the effects of environmental toxicants on the female reproductive system, with an emphasis on the effects and mechanisms of their action on sex differentiation during development, fertility, and breast cancer. The second part addresses the effects of endocrine disruption on the male reproductive system, focusing on male fertility and the development of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. Leading authorities contribute expert analyses and up-to-date information on a topic that has become a major concern among the scientific community and the general public. This second edition supplies the most current, critical knowledge on the real risks that endocrine disruptors pose to the population.
