In the last three decades, gynecologic oncology has developed into a well established sub-specialty of obstetrics and gynecology and is formally recognized in the USA, Canada and Australia. Within the European Union, the United Kingdom has recognized the sub-specialty and there is increasing pressure for recognition throughout the Union.
